Introductions!

Introduce yourself to your fellow officers (and whoever else ends up posting here)!

I'll start. I'm Commander Sama Tysei, first officer, USS Harrington. I have served aboard her since... eight hours and twenty-seven minutes ago, when she officially launched.

As for my background... well, I'm Bajoran (so that's Commander Sama to most people and Tysei to my friends), but I had the fortune to grow up well away from Bajor or the refugee camps. My mom's an agricultural specialist, with a real talent for making crops grow in barren places, so she and my dad were able to sign on with the Ben Nevis colony expedition, and that's where I was born and raised. I joined Starfleet because I didn't like the idea of spending my whole life on that planet.

But enough about me. Who are you people?

I am Starfleet Fleet Captain Darryl F Wood, commander of Akira class battlecruiser USS Canberra, which is currently posted to the Kalandra sector, and based at Lya Station Alpha Starbase. I was born in 2324 in Alpha Centauri colony.

I was her commander for several months now, and I can say I'm satisfied with level of professionalism and capability I have seen from her crew so far. Ship has been stationed at Starbase since late 2371, stardate 48765.6, and I must say that I am wary of both the Dominion and the Cardassians. I never trusted Cardassians (or the Romulans for that matter) but I hope Cardassians will side with us against the Dominion, if necessary. But there is no way to know what will happen next, and I don't trust them since I fought them in the wars.

I have joined Starfleet because I always liked space - I often stargazed in the evenings back when we used to camp in wilderness on Alpha Centauri colony. Thus I joined Starfleet at age of 19. But my life in Starfleet, since my graduation in 2347, turned into war. Namely, Cardassian War, which started the same year I graduated and lasted until 2350s, with skirmishes continuing for nearly a decade after that. During that period, I served on Constellation class ship, USS Massachussets.

After the war, my life was relatively uneventful. We were patrolling Cardassian DMZ, and had several run-ins with Cardassian ships, but nothing too serious. I was transferred to the Excelsior class starship several years after official end of the war, and continued to climb in the ranks until finally being given command of my current ship. And as for now at least, I have no desire to advance further.
